Tuff Cab is back - and tougher than ever.

From September 2026, Tuff Cab is manufactured using a completely new formulation, developed to retain the easy application and distinctive professional finish Tuff Cab is known for, while providing an even tougher and more consistent coating.

Designed specifically for loudspeaker cabinets and similar equipment, Tuff Cab provides a hard-wearing decorative finish suitable for new cabinet builds as well as refurbishment of existing enclosures.

Coverage

Tuff Cab offers very good coverage, although the amount required can vary considerably depending on the surface, number of coats, texture and application method.

As a broad guide, 5 litres can cover approximately 10-30m² per coat, with heavier textured finishes towards the lower end of the range and lighter or smoother applications towards the upper end.

Bare MDF, plywood and other absorbent timber surfaces will normally require at least two coats. The first coat generally uses considerably more paint as it seals and covers the bare surface; subsequent coats tend to require much less and can often be applied as a relatively light finishing coat.

When refurbishing cabinets which already have a sound painted surface, considerably greater coverage may be possible.

These figures should therefore only be treated as a guide. Surface porosity, preparation, roller type, desired texture and application thickness can all make a substantial difference to actual consumption.

New Formulation

Tuff Cab manufactured from September 2026 is a new formulation and replaces previous versions of the product. It has been developed to reproduce the familiar Tuff Cab appearance and application characteristics while providing an even tougher coating.

Customers matching or touching up cabinets coated with older versions of Tuff Cab should allow for possible differences in colour, sheen and texture.

Pack Size

Supplied as a nominal 5 litre pack, approximately 5kg.

Tuff Cab is now specified and filled by volume. Actual weight may vary slightly according to formulation and normal manufacturing tolerances.
